COVID-19: Information

Hello Everyone

We are really sorry but due to the spread of the Coronavirus, as a precaution to protect our visitors and artists in line with all other galleries, museums and theatres, we have decided to close our Gallery to the public from 5pm on Wednesday 18th March 2020 until at least the 19th of April.

Work will continue behind the scenes until we can re-open. We will be reviewing the situation in early April

The Wilkin Tearoom will stay open, via the Garden Gate from Thursday 19th March to Sat 21st March as normal, and will be offering a takeaway service and selling gifts next week between Monday 23rd and Saturday 28th March. Please note there will be no access to the gallery, shop or office at all, this is just the Tearoom.

A listed Georgian building, the Minories is one of Colchester’s most distinctive buildings.

The site houses a public gallery, ballroom and café surrounded by a walled garden that contains an 18th Century Gothic folly. The Ballroom and folly are both licensed for wedding ceremonies.

We offer a secluded and unique venue for weddings within the grounds of the beautiful Minories walled garden. The folly is believed to have been built around 1745 and is probably one of the earliest surviving buildings of the Gothic Revival and has been given a Grade II listed status. The garden and Folly are both registered with the Essex Gardens Trust.
